If you are going on holiday, then you’ll want to make sure that you don’t forget about these top holiday essentials.
Packing suitcase for holiday

So many people go on holiday every year, but within a day or so of arriving, they quickly come to the conclusion that the packing job they did, wasn’t as good as they thought it was.

This can be disastrous, depending on the item you’ve forgotten.

That is why we have compiled this list, so you can make sure you don’t forget anything essential for your trip.

1. Phone Charger

If you are like a lot of people, then you may charge your phone in the exact same spot every single night.

If you do this, then you may find that it is super easy to forget it when you’re packing.

After all, you may find that you can’t pack it until the morning of your trip, and by this point, you are probably running around feeling a little frazzled about your flight.

If you have seen how expensive chargers are to buy in airports or in resort towns, you’ll soon wish you’d remembered the one you have at home.

2. Toothpaste

It’s not a huge deal if you forget this item, as a lot of hotels will usually give you some for free if you visit the front desk.

That being said, if there is a particular brand and flavour you use, or if you are going camping, hiking or on an outdoor adventure then you may find forgetting this item is super frustrating.

Again, this is a last-minute item, so make sure that you always do what you can to remember it before your trip.

3. Swimsuit

You probably won’t forget your swimsuit if you are going on a summer holiday.

That being said, if you are going on a ski trip, then you will probably want to take your swimsuit with you.

The hotel may have a pool or even a hot tub, and after a long day, you will probably want to take advantage of this.

4. Laundry Bag

If you have been on holiday before then you may have noticed how fast dirty laundry piles can add up.

You may find that at times, you are practically swimming in washing, or that you frantically stuff it back into your suitcase.

If you want to do something about this, then you need to keep any worn clothing separate from your clean.

You can do this by buying a waterproof laundry bag. This is essential if you want to go swimming as it stops your wet swimsuit from soaking into your holiday clothes.

5. First Aid

Accidents can happen, and it doesn’t really matter where in the world you are either. You always need to pack a small first aid kit whenever you go on your vacation.

Be sure to include basic items, such as antibiotics, eye drops, tweezers, or anything else you may need on the road.

This is crucial if you are going on an adventure holiday.

6. Sunscreen

Whatever you do, you have to make sure that you don’t forget sunscreen.

Gift shops will charge you a small fortune for it when you arrive at your destination.

Ideally, you will need to take way more than you need as you will have to apply it often.

Even if you are going on a skiing trip, you need to take it with you as well.

Even though the weather might not seem hot, you would be surprised at how easy it is for you to come back with sunburn, due to the harsh rays.

7. Lip Balm

Having chapped lips on vacation is the worst thing that could happen.

Take some lip balm with you in your travel bag and make sure that you are trying to combat sun exposure as well. It is well worth trying to keep a few tubes with you.

8. Umbrella

You truly never know when the weather is going to turn, and the last thing you want is to be out without an umbrella.

You don’t need to bring a raincoat and boots with you, but you do need to ensure that you take some rain gear with you so you can avoid wasting your holiday budget on a poncho when you get there.

Remember that sometimes, an umbrella can be a good way for you to give yourself some shade when you feel as though the heat is getting too much.

It may be that you try and prop it up somewhere when you’re on the beach, for example.

The great thing about umbrellas is that they come in travel-sized options, so you don’t need to worry about taking up too much room in your suitcase.

9. Sunglasses

If you are one of those people who tend to keep their sunglasses in their car, then you may find that it is easy to forget them when you go on vacation.

You may be able to pick them up when you go on vacation but at the same time, they’ll probably be expensive, and they may not be your style.

The last thing you need is uncomfortable sunglasses, so be mindful of this if you can, and never leave home without them.

Buy an extra pair if you are worried about losing them or if you are concerned about snapping the arms.

10. Snacks

Something about travel makes people hungry. Forget stopping off for some snacks at a gas station or even in the airport.

If you do it’ll take time out of your day and there’s a chance it’ll put a huge hole in your budget too.

Instead, be sure to stock up ahead of time and make sure that you can fit them in your carry-on.

If you do this, you’ll always have access to food that you love, and this can really work in your favour if you tend to get peckish when on the move.

So, if you can make the effort to avoid forgetting these top items, your vacation will be much less stressful, and you won’t have to blow your budget when you arrive.
