Families of Love Island contestants have released an online statement, hitting out at some of the abuse that the Islanders are getting on social media.
Friends and families of the Love Island stars have shared a statement, which has currently been posted to the Instagram accounts of Tasha Ghouri, Andrew Le Page, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, Gemma Owen, Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope.
The statement goes on to detail that hate has no presence on social media, or in general society.
A caption saying “be kind” has also been posted alongside the message.
A lot of the Islanders have received hateful comments from people who watch the show, including Jacques O’Neill.
His exit came after his family pleaded with viewers to think about what they say, as he received a huge amount of backlash after his Casa Amor antics.
Jacques’ family posted a photo, showing a screenshot regarding the definition of ADHD. His family talked about his childhood diagnosis.
Jacques was diagnosed when he was 9 years of age, and even though this is not a get-out clause for his behaviour, it does help to explain why he may have a hard time dealing with his emotions at times.
ADHD can cause emotional dysregulation, alongside rejection sensitivity and the inability to deal with stress.
Those who have ADHD may develop coexisting conditions, which include anxiety, depression and more.
This can make it quite challenging for someone who has the condition, to see themselves positively.
The Instagram statement comes with a very strong message, and it largely revolves around the fact that you don’t always know what someone is going through.
And that it is often easy to judge someone based on seeing their behaviour compiled into a one-hour episode. Jacques has now left the villa, and is back at home.
